The building is old and has a vintage elevator which is fun to use, although Ana's apartment is on the 2nd floor. so I just walked the 1 flight of stairs. The building has a lot of character and it felt very "European" to me with the elevator and bidets and old stained glass windows, for example. However, because it is older the bathroom in the main part of the house is a bit shabby, and the kitchen is old and small, but the rooms are very well kept up and it is located in a fantastic part of Palermo. I miss it!
Comment of your host: Ana is the best! I was so lucky to choose her as my landlord. I love her and miss her. She will adopt you into her family and into her heart. She doesn't speak much English at all but is a very patient teacher in Spanish, although she loves to practice the little bit of English she knows. We were good friends by the end and her granddaughters even visited me back home in the States. She is also very respectful about private space and making you feel like you are welcome in her home.
